The second match of the National Championships was held at the St Paul’s bay pier after a change in venue. All anglers met at 5.30am for the zone drawing and set up their equipment. All anglers deployed their keep nets in preparation for the start. The match kicked off at 6.30am. Bites were slow with some small saddled bream being caught at the tip of the pier and mainly different types of bottom fish. Anglers were only allowed to used float fishing so a mixture of techniques were used such as running float, and pole fixed float. John Azzopardi (DFCM) however towards the end of the match managed to secure a nice sized parrot fish together with some mixed fish species and secured his win for the day with Jonathan Aquilina (KSFA) and Aaron Xuereb (KSFA) both scoring a joint second place.
